The  Vision 

Launch the first overlay service on the New Payments Platform

The Challenge

BPAY Group saw an opportunity for strategic expansion by providing an “overlay service” on Australia’s New Payments Platform. Osko allows BPAY Group to service consumer to consumer transactions for the first time, making it a significant addition to their existing product offering — the leading bill payment service in Australia.

Why Industrie&Co

In order to be first to market, Osko was built while NPP standards were still evolving. Industrie&Co’s deep experience in Agile software delivery and engineering complimented BPAY Group’s strong financial services credentials, allowing BPAY Group to swiftly and stably adapt their program of work as required.

By embedding Industrie&Co in BPAY Group’s own engineering team, BPAY Group could ensure that their people would own the overall solution and mitigate the risks that are usually inherent during handover.

The Solution

  • The Industrie&Co team engaged with BPAY Group during the design phase of the project and facilitated the development of the early prototype used to explore and validate the user experience.

  • A blended team of BPAY Group and Industrie&Co staff was formed who could implement the project over the two year development phase.

  • Prior to launch Industrie&Co supported BPAY Group in the rigorous testing and certification phase, successfully navigating complex compliance requirements in order to on-board participants, and ultimately launching a rock-solid product to market.

  • Industrie&Co continues to partner with BPAY Group to roll-out new features and upgrades on Osko, with BPAY Group’s own team successfully transitioning to leadership of the product’s development.

The Outcome

  • BPAY Group successfully delivered the Osko service to a high standard of quality — and on time.

  • The success of the project was also enjoyed by their early-adopter partner institutions, who gained industry reputation and a key point of difference in their customer service offerings.
